Everyone knows they need insurance, but let’s face it, no one is excited to pay the premiums. Consider the value of insurance from an agents view point – my view point. I have seen homes burned to the ground and the overwhelming burden to families when this occurs. Coping with losing your home and possessions to a fire is tragic. I’m incredibly proud of my industry when we step in to provide guidance and help during a catastrophe like this.

There are many options for people when choosing their insurance companies. When you call my office you will generally speak to someone right away on the phone or get a response back to your email within a few hours. Unlike many of the large companies, you have to call an 800 number and speak to whoever picks up the phone. There is no established relationship and you are just another client. My office and clientele have been built mostly from referrals and word of mouth. Without my client’s satisfaction with my service and products, I would not be able to grow the business – something I take very seriously.

I have a deep-rooted history in the insurance industry, starting my career in the San Joaquin Valley at my family’s agency. Under my aunt’s mentorship, I gained invaluable experience, learning every facet of the business. In 2006, I founded JL Martin Insurance Agency in Capitola, and I’m thrilled to contribute to the community where I’ve lived with my two daughters for the past two decades. My journey began in the mail room of California’s 10th largest insurance broker, where I immersed myself in all aspects of the industry, from claims handling to managing personal and commercial accounts. This experience was crucial in preparing me to open my own agency. Currently, I’m dedicated to learning a second language and staying active with activities like CrossFit. You can also find me at the barn most weekends with my youngest daughter, watching her ride or attending horse shows throughout the year. Plus, nothing beats the feeling of being at the beach!
